Switzerland in a Cube

These posts describe my process in creating a swiss inspired layout in my cubicle.

Turnout

I originally planned on transferring all my pages from the Digital Train Lab onto this blog. The Digital Train Lab was my senior project at Utah State University. The purpose was to create a system for detection, identification, and control of ...  read more >>

Idea

I lied.
My idea was not a light bulb kind of idea. It has been growing in the depths of my imagination for years. My inspiration for this layout is Swiss railroads.  Specifically, the ... read more >>

Layout

Landwasser Viaduct

After finishing the full loop around my cubicle, the only real full loop was up and over my bookshelf. The lower track simply ended on either side of the bookshelf. This was just not good enough! read more >>

Third Rail Bridge Track

Now that the bridge is completed, I need to run tracks over it. This layout will move during its lifetime. It does, after all, hang on cubicle walls. With this in mind, ... read more >>

First Run!

Finally, I ran a train the full two loops, including the bridge! read more >>
